I know very many of us are deeply concerned about those close to us during the current pandemic and we want to do whatever we can to keep our loved ones healthy and happy.
Of course, on the physical plane, I agree with medical authorities regarding hand- washing, social-distancing and self-isolation for those who are or could be affected. As a spiritualist, though, I believe that there are also things that we can do on the psychic, spiritual planes to help protect our own health and that of those we love.
Even if there is no vaccine against the virus at present, the placebo effect-aka the power of the human mind and spirit (or faith in the God who lives within each of us), will strengthen the natural defences of those with belief.
I recommend reading a special message from microbiologist Dr Bruce Lipton (the author of The Biology of Belief) where he talks about the affects of the placebo and the nocebo affect. The nocebo affect includes negative thinking, fear and other forms of extreme stress. You can access it here:

In his wonderful book, ‘Love, Medicine and Miracles’ Dr Bernie Siegel talks about how patients who were prayed for and were lovingly supported through illness by loved ones had a better prognosis than those who were not.
I have adapted a particular meditation exercise given by Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov to surround my own loved ones with a protective shield of love and light while at the same time working for the well-being of those unknown to me. It is one of my favourite exercises and practising it is one of the very best methods there is to protect ourselves. While imagining the loved one surrounded by love and light, you can inwardly repeat the words ‘Strength, Health, Life’. The 3 words, in Bulgarian, are the title of a sacred song written by Peter Deuvov – ‘Sila, Zdravi, Jivot SJJ
‘Imagine the whole world as a being, next to you, and you are holding their hand and sending them lots of love and light. The tiny particles that spread out from your soul at that moment move off in all directions in space and spread to all human beings, inspiring in them the most generous and brotherly thoughts and feelings. In this way, what you are doing for the being you are holding in your imagination, has an effect on men and women all over the world. If there were hundreds, thousands, of us doing this exercise, a new breath, a divine breath, would pass through all creatures, and one day they too would feel inspired by an ideal of light and peace.’ Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
What boosts the immune system more than anything else is love so here is another exercise for working with love:
‘Let the spring of love flow within you. Through your thoughts, your feelings, your wishes, your words, let it gush forth over all the creatures and objects around you and beyond, on the trees, the mountains, the oceans. Even if you are by yourself, remember to utter words of peace, of hope and of joy for all human beings on earth, knowing that these words will have an effect somewhere, no matter where.
You do not yet know what it is possible to achieve with love.
And since we can only give to others what we possess ourselves, try first to establish harmony and light within you, and then, once you feel you have succeeded in making this harmony and light real within you, in your heart and your soul, project them into space. This is what working with love is all about: becoming a beneficial presence for the entire world.’
